Lunar's Likes and Dislikes

I have to do a post for Lunar since I did one for Brutus. I love Lunar- he is so quirky.

Lunar is a funny little guy and I am kind of partial to him because he likes me better than Josh. It's really funny sometimes. If he thinks Josh is mad, he won't come to him no matter how much Josh calls him. The other day, he crawled under my bed when Josh was trying to get him to go outside. Haha, it was way funny. Josh gets so mad when Lunar ignores him.

Here are a few of Lunar's likes-

He likes his chewing bones, and he is very protective of them. This is the only thing that will make Lunar stand up to Brutus. I have heard a very mean sounding growl come from Lunar when Brutus has tried to take one, and Brutus backed off right away. Brutus doesn't really try to take them anymore.

He likes to play with his toys, especially the squeaky ones. He can always find the squeaker and he squeaks and squeaks until Brutus gets mad and takes the toy away. Brutus CANNOT find the squeaker and he gets really jealous and usually ends up destroying the toy.

He likes treats! You can't see it, but I am holding a treat so he will look happy in the picture. It worked way good, obviously.

He likes kids! He loves it when kids come over to our house. This is him in his cage with my friend Denise's kids, Lauren and Thomas. When I asked the kids if they wanted to get out of the cage, they looked at me as if I was crazy and asked, "WHY?"

Lunar's dislikes include, but are not limited to: helium balloons, baths, loud noises, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, taking his medicine, Josh's serious voice, sudden movements, cardboard boxes and loud music, just to name a few.
I guess these aren't so much dislikes, but all of the things we've discovered so far that Lunar is terrified of. He is kind of a wimp, and he frightens easily. The helium balloon was probably the funniest. Josh tried to "cure" Lunar of his fear by cornering him in a room with the balloon and then petting him with it. It didn't work, in case you were wondering. He is getting better with the bath fear, though. He got one last week and he wasn't even hyperventilating, so that was good.

Such a Cuddler

Brutus looks big and mean and tough, and he does kill things on occasion(that's the hound in him), but he is really just a big softie. He loves to cuddle with anyone who will let him, as you can see in the following pics.

Lucky for us, no bloody mess - lucky for you, no photos

On Saturday, June 21st, Brutus was greeting our guests at the front gate when I noticed a large (9 inch) lizard near the house. I told him to get it not thinking that he would actually catch it since he was a good 40-50 feet away happily licking all the people. Well, he caught it.

He caught a ferret once in Utah, and he wouldn't let anyone take it from him for like 3 days. I was very proud of him this time, because he gave it up in exchange for a treat about 5 minutes after he caught it. This worked out much better than the two times in Utah that he insisted on strutting his dead chicken around our living room.

Fat Boy!

Apparently I gained about 8 pounds in the last month. I can assure you that none of that is muscle. I have been working in Tucson with radar trucks for the last month, and I think all the fast food caught up to me. Of course, I wasn't doing as much walking/hiking as I had been before either, cuz the whole radar thing really cuts down on the distances you have to cover on foot when you know nearly exactly where the group is at.

I don't know what I'm going to do to lose it just yet. I might actually run a few times. I'm really not excited about that prospect though. I'm also thinking about actually dieting. Maybe limiting calorie intake to 2000 per day for a while. I'll post again in a month if I actually lose it.

Ajo - Where Summer Spends Winter

For those of you who didn't know, Ajo is where summer spends winter. We have beautiful sunny and warm days for most of the winter. We are able to go outside without worrying about getting hypothermia or snow. Unfortunately, Ajo is also where Hades spends the summer. It is wicked hot these days.

We had a tonk (illegal alien) die yesterday and a tonk die the day before that as well. Yesterday, we also ended up shipping 17 tonks in various helicopters and ambulances to hospitals throughout Phoenix. Those 17 were all fine though, and I brought the last one back from the hospital today. Only one of them tried to escape from the hospital. That's your tax dollars hard at work in Ajo, AZ.

Well, we've succumbed...

My laziness won. I don't really want to do a blog, but I think it is a great way to stay in contact with our friends and family who don't live by us...which is pretty much everyone. Plus, it saves me from mass emails updating everyone and telling the same stories over and over. So here goes. The following are a few pics to bring you up to date.

Here is a shot of our house. It looks kind of ghetto, but for Ajo, it is a pretty nice house. Scary, I know. If you ever come to visit, you'll understand.

And here are our cars. We have both bought new cars since moving here. It's kind of important to have good reliable cars when you live two hours from a hospital.
